Natural Sciences was the first college at Colorado State University to institute a residential college. For well over a decade, the Ingersoll Residential College (IRC) has provided thousands of natural sciences majors with the opportunity to live with other students who share a common interest in science.

The Ingersoll Residential College houses ~350 men and women and is located on campus in Ingersoll Hall. Living in a residential college provides a positive and diverse learning environment for science students and offers several advantages when compared to other residential halls.

  • Living with people who are taking the same classes as you makes it easier to do homework assignments and form study groups.
  • IRC Resident Assistants are science majors themselves. They can answer your questions and help you with problems.
  • The IRC Event Center hosts dances, movies, and programs such as robotics demonstrations, the Little Shop of Physics, and the Rocky Mountain Raptor Center.
  • Ingersoll has its own computer lab with PCs and Macintosh computers, laser printers, and a variety of software.
  • Ingersoll also includes a video lab with digital movie cameras and professional editing software on Macintosh computers.
  • Every room in Ingersoll was remodeled during the summer of 2008. Each room was repainted and re-carpeted and received new furniture.

Ingersoll students often engage in social activities, making use of the Fort Collins' culture by organizing area hikes and excursions, touring a variety of local businesses, and attending University demonstrations. One of the annual IRC highlights is Faculty Pet Night, where faculty and staff bring their pets to the residence hall, just for the fun of it.
